Dispensaries in CT get their products from a network of licensed cultivators (growers) within the state. There were only 4 since the program started in 2012. However, since CT legalized recreational use, more grow licenses have been distributed.
There are now 12 growers (6 full-size cultivators and 6 micro-cultivators)* in operation. With 14 additional businesses holding a cultivator or micro-cultivator licenses as of Dec 2025, but not yet operational.
A new trend that we are seeing is grow facilities associated with dispensaries. These grows typically will “stock” their own dispensaries first and then sell their products in other dispensaries as well. Therefore, if you find a product you like, you will most likely find it in stock at a dispensary that is affiliated with.
Companies with both dispensaries and their own cultivation facilities (or affiliated cultivation companies) include:
Rodeo Cannabis is the only outdoor grow in the state. A sun-grown (outdoor) cannabis farm located in Morris in the Litchfield Hills region. According to their website- Our first dispensary opens later this year in Rocky Hill, CT.
*full-size cultivators (sometimes referred to as "producers") were primarily established to serve the medical marijuana market and later expanded for adult-use. micro-cultivators have also become operational, starting with smaller grow spaces and the potential to expand over time.
