Guidelines and resources for growing cannabis In Connecticut

Many patients have been asking about growing their own cannabis. This can be a healthier and cost saving option. Where can I get seeds? Who can I ask questions to? What are the laws in CT about growing? This post will answer all of those questions!

Here are the current laws in Connecticut regrding growing your own cannabis:

Medical marijuana patients 18 years and older (and adults 21 years of age and older) are able to grow up to 3 mature and 3 immature plants in their home, with a cap of 12 total plants per household.
Plants must be grown indoors and must not be visible from the street.
People who choose to grow their own plants must do so in their primary residence and where individuals under 21 cannot access the plants.

A question we get asked alot is:

If I grow my own, then why do I need a medical marijuana card?

With a medical marijuana card, you can legally carry up to 5 oz. of marijuana. So, if you have a great harvest, the medical card will give you some legally protection! Without a medical card, you are allowed to have/carry up to 1.5 oz of cannabis on you. Thats a big difference! You can get a medical card for as low as $89 at Advance Telemedicine.

The medical card also gives you access to tinctures, topicals and some other products at the dispensary that may be time consuming to make on your own.
